The floor is only as good as what’s under it
Floating floors telegraph every dip and hump in the subfloor, and a floor that flexes will eventually click, gap or separate. Before installing anything we check for flatness, re-secure loose subfloor, grind high spots and fill low spots so the new floor lies flat and feels solid.
In older Hudson Valley homes we often find several layers of old flooring, patched subfloors and framing that has settled over time. We deal with those conditions up front and explain your options, rather than hiding them under new planks.
Choosing the right material
- LVP is the workhorse: waterproof, pet-friendly and ideal for kitchens, basements and rental units.
- Laminate offers a hard, scratch-resistant surface and a wide range of wood looks at a lower price point.
- Hardwood adds warmth and long-term value, and can be refinished down the road.
